Suite Jesus Tha Was Funtabulous!

If you're ever in SF and looking for a good time, it's all about 111 Minna! The art gallery, turned swanky smooth club at night, fills not just your cup, but your soul too! You get two large rooms of eye pleasing art, and ear satisfying sound.
Suite Jesus! The name says it all, and the events are even better.
Going down tonight if you're in the mood.

Soul Con Dance Co Photo Shoot

All I could think of up until my dance company photo shoot, was just that, the photo shoot. I stayed up at night thinking of outfits. Creating backgrounds and secret lives for our characters. Envisioning all of the pieces put together to create a unique scene with an untold story.
After what felt like a life time, here are a few of the photos, and a few random thoughts to accompany.
Photography: Andrade Photography
Concept Creation/Art Director: Jesse Oberst
Styling: Stephanie Derengowski & Jesse Oberst

Straight from the dessert
We came in dusty gray attire
Holding close to our tribe's native print
A patterned fabric
Representing our home
Our life
Our love
It was transformed in our journey
Through travel and stars
The sun, the moon
Through peace and though wars
Our homeland wraps began to shine
The gold and silver
Claimed us as its own
Through all we had been
Even more it shone

The larger size didn't fit on my blog format. Horribly disappointing! I know, but you can check them out at myspace.com/soulcon.

Sneaker Pimp n' Heels Ho

I not only adore kicks, but I love heels as well. Often, I feel torn in the A.M. trying to choose the lucky feet fitters for the day.
Recently I got a pleasant surprise in the region of pedal perfection. Not only an incorporation on kicks and heels, but Christian Siriano has designed shoes for Payless? Wha, wha, wha, whaaaa? Yes, ranging from $25-$45! Insanity? It doesn't stop there. They are also Egypt inspired! What kind of serendipitous heaven have I fallen into? I'm sure I'll get every pair, and save a few bucks to afford the sneaker freaker heels too! ;)

Miss Sixty, Miss Sixty, Miss Sixty...

I absolutely love the spring/summer 2009 collection of Miss Sixty. Even though it's premier was, what, months ago now? Their predictions of how my attitude and taste would evolve and morph was on point!
I think I will always adore knee-high socks, but with bold stripes in a sheer material? All most lingerie like, and that makes me adore it even more!
The raw urban surroundings, combined with a sophisticated funky lady, is just how I feel when I see these clothes, and just how I love to feel everyday in mine.

Guilty Pleasure....

I love a lot of different music, but some of my guilty pleasures are cheesy pop R&B, and crazy electro.

Enjoy!

BREAKIN' '09!

Life, love, art, and dance.
Those are the cleanest ways to describe my world.
I am a passionate hip hop dancer, and a timid breaker. If I could only pull myself to battle, and get used to the embarrassment of defeat, I'm sure you'd see me here one day.
The film, found on one of my frequented sites style2ouf.com. Shot by an amazingly talented artist named MASE.
Enjoy

night life

I feel like I've been gone way too long and must catch up.

First, was an amazing live music event I went to in, where else? The DTSJ aka down town San Jose. In the midst of the four corner club-hop on first street, amongst all the trying-to-be-trendy-wannabes in their mini black dresses, attempting to hide their spare tires, is the Cellar. It's open randomly, as far as I know, and is the basement of the Agenda. 'Round the corner from the superficial, and the super lame, you'll see the entrance. Head down the stairs, and you got an underground vibe mixed with the crazy, freshest string and drum set-up ever heard. That is until Panthelion, the boys we came to see, went on.
Picture progressive black and white stills in movie mode, projected on the wall. The oozing melting colors of a light show, that almost make you see the auras of the music. Intense energy that can't help, but glue your eyes to the performers in front of you. It was an experience of the eyes and ears. Your body floating like the clouds, when you know your feet haven't left the ground.
The group consisted of a trumpet player, a percussionist, guitar/vocals, and keyboard/cello player. Yes, a cello player. And the percussionist? He was sitting on what looked like a wooden box, an actual Brazilian instrument, and playing with just his hands! Hitting cymbals and all! They were phenomenal. No other words can describe the Brazilian beats, classic raw brass strength, the eerie electric guitar, the pound of the keys, and pluck, or should I say, skilled pummel, of the cello. It was a futuristic underground symphony.
I loved every minute of it.
